RICHARD W. BUTLER

Rich joined Garland Griffiths Knaupp in October 2015 after working for the Washington County Counsel's office as Assistant County Counsel.  He helps clients with real estate transactions and disputes, probates, and landlord tenant issues. While working for Washington County he regularly represented the County in hearings at Washington County Circuit Court.

Rich started his legal career in college when he was a volunteer mediator in small claims court.  In smalls claims court he mediated a broad range of cases including collections, landlord tenant, neighbor disputes, and property disputes. His experiences mediating motivated him to attend the University of Oregon School of Law where he received his Juris Doctorate in May 2014.  He is comfortable resolving disputes in and out of court, and will help you choose the best resolution for your case.

Before law school, Rich worked at Butler Engineering and Land Surveying as a surveyor on everything from small subdivision developments to large multimillion dollar Federal Highway construction projects in Yellowstone National Park.  This background gives him a solid understanding of real estate transactions and issues.

Rich grew up in Idaho and attended Brigham Young University-Idaho where he graduated with a Bachelors Degree in Communications.  When not in court or at the office he enjoys spending time with his wife and three kids.  Rich enjoys many outdoor activities including fishing mountain biking, and hiking.
